A few useful hours between two boats

This route is for travellers arriving in the morning who must sail back the same day. The goal is not to see everything but to step into the medina, reach the kasbah, eat by the sea and return to boarding without stress. Decide from the start how many truly useful hours you have after controls and walking time.

Tangier City or Tangier Med?

Two ports serve Tangier and they are not equivalent. Tangier City port, downtown, puts you within a ten-minute walk of the medina — the ideal case for this short route. Tangier Med sits about forty kilometres east, outside the city, and requires a taxi or bus to reach the centre. If you land at Tangier Med, cut the programme sharply or consider a trip to a beach or nearby town instead.

Luggage, controls and return

Travelling light changes everything. With a big suitcase, the medina and kasbah get hard; check in advance whether you can leave luggage at a locker or your hotel. Always keep a comfortable margin for the return, including controls: better to wait thirty quiet minutes at the port than to run. We do not guarantee schedules, prices, exact crossing times or immediate taxi availability.

The route step by step

Leaving the port and orienting
From Tangier City, leave the terminal, keep the sea on your right and walk up to the Grand Socco. From Tangier Med, take a taxi or shuttle to the centre first.
Into the medina
Enter at the Grand Socco, go down to the Petit Socco and let the lanes carry you for only thirty to forty minutes.
Quick climb to the kasbah
Climb to the kasbah for the terrace view over the strait. That photo alone tells the story of Tangier.
Lunch at the Marina
Head down to the Marina for a simple meal by the water — faster and clearer than a restaurant deep in the lanes.
Back to the port with a margin
Head back to the port well before boarding time. If you arrived at Tangier Med, allow an even wider margin for the return leg.
