Grand Socco — officially April 9th 1947 Square — is the large circular plaza dividing the modern city from the medina. It's one of the best starting points to explore Tangier on foot: the medina begins here via Siaghine street to Petit Socco, and the European city spreads above around Boulevard Pasteur.
