A rainy day doesn't cancel the visit — it just shifts the pace. This route alternates covered places, cafés and short transfers to stay dry most of the time. The idea is to keep outdoor moments brief and well chosen, rather than walking long under rain. Depending on how heavy it gets, you can easily shift from an active plan to a more contemplative one, around museums, covered terraces and good tables.

In light rain, the medina remains pleasant if you wear real closed shoes and a light rain layer. In heavy rain, cobbled lanes become slippery and gutters can overflow: better then to avoid the kasbah's steepest slopes and stick to wider streets. Taxis thin out in the first minutes of a downpour: anticipate rather than wait roadside. A pause in a historic café is often enough to let the worst pass.

Museum and site opening hours can shift by season, public holidays or temporary works. Don't build a plan around a single visit — always keep a nearby fallback. A simple backup plan: American Legation and Kasbah Museum for indoor time, a long lunch in a medina restaurant, then tea in a historic café. Check official hours on the day when possible.

The classic rainy-day mistake is staying wet for hours: cold sets in and tires you fast. Pack a spare pair of socks, dry off when you reach a café, and change what is soaked rather than waiting. A hot tea, a light soup or a harira in a Moroccan restaurant are great allies to keep going. If the rain still falls in the evening, drop the sunset and keep an indoor evening: an unhurried dinner beats one last uncomfortable ride.

Rain in Tangier often comes in waves: a very dark sky at midday can clear by late afternoon. Keep an eye on the local forecast and don't hesitate to push a visit back by an hour or two. Taxis get scarce when it rains hard, so keep a walkable plan B in mind to get back to your accommodation without depending on quickly finding one.
