It's worth knowing a few emergency references before arriving in Tangier. Numbers and procedures can change — always verify with official sources before travelling. Summary: • Police: 19 (confirm before departure). • Ambulance / Fire: 15 (confirm). • European number 112 is often recognised. What to do if there's a problem: • Hotel or riad: reception can call a doctor, a trusted taxi or the police. • Theft or lost papers: file a report with the local police, then contact your embassy or consulate. • Minor health issue: a pharmacy is often the first step (see Health & pharmacies). • Serious emergency: prefer a well-known private clinic or hospital, ideally with travel insurance. Before you go: • Take out travel insurance with medical and repatriation cover. • Save the contact of your embassy or consulate in Rabat or Casablanca. • Keep digital copies of your passport and insurance policy.
