Mariano Fortuny — Exhibition in Tangier

Dar Niaba, Tangier's Museum of Travelling Artists, is devoting a temporary exhibition to Mariano Fortuny i Marsal, one of the leading figures of the 19th-century Spanish school. It opened on 21 April 2026 and runs until 21 August 2026.

The show brings together around 50 works. Fortuny is a painter closely tied to Morocco: his stays and his Moroccan sketchbooks fed much of his output, and that link is exactly what gives an exhibition in Tangier its meaning.

We announce no ticket price, opening hours or free entry: none of that is confirmed by an official source. Check with the museum before travelling across town, especially in the final days.

Where it is: Dar Niaba stands in the historic part of the Tangier medina, a short walk from the Petit Socco and the climb up to the Kasbah. It is easy to reach on foot from the Grand Socco; taxis drop you at the edge of the medina, as the lanes are not drivable.

Combine it with: the visit fits neatly into a medina morning — Petit Socco, historic lanes, then the Kasbah and its museum — before heading down towards the port or the Corniche.
